Ace The Elective Biology WASSCE Paper 2013

Achieving an "A," a "B" or a  "C" on the WASSCE  depends on  where your final score falls on the WASSCE grade score range. Some people usually say that only "one mark "  could make the difference between achieving an "A" or a "B on any  WASSCE question paper." I totally agree with this.  So, ask yourself,  should  that one mark slip  by me?

Extra work is always needed to achieve the highest grade on the WASSCE Biology paper. This is because , the WASSCE Biology paper has the practicals, theory and multiple choice sections which are all aggregates of  ones final score. The practical section  is normally taken on a separate day, while the other sections (theory and multiple answer sections) are taken on the same day. One  needs to score high in all sections in other to achieve a high grade or in other to reduce his or her chances of failing the Biology subject on the WASSCE.

How to Ace the Biology WASSCE 2013 paper:

1).  Try to understand every topic you read about . Ask questions in other to be sure. For example when I say: "nictitating membrane" and you don't understand what  it means. You should simply ask me what it means. I would explain it to you using a lizard as an example. If maybe you have not seen a lizard before. You could look for one physically or search for any video, picture or drawing of one. This is a form of long term learning .
2).  Read wide. Don't stop reading only were your textbook ends or only were your teacher stops. You need to read deeper on any chosen topic, because you never might know what new questions would pop-out on the exam day. WASSCE Biology papers  over the years has always been filled with recycled questions. However, the WAEC question setters  may turn wise to that flaw appreciably.  For example questions like: "what is the full meaning of BOD"  popped  out on the WASSCE Biology  theory section for the Nov/Dec 2011 exams for the first time ever.

3).  Learn to draw or write well  and present your work neatly. This could impress the examiner.
4). Learn to be quick in answering your questions. Remember, time waits for no one.
Note: Avoid making any mistakes when answering your questions quickly.
5). Take extra needed materials to the exam hall.  Example ; you should have like two pencils, one calculator, two erasers etc.
6). Know how to  answer WASSCE Biology questions. You should know how to present a work that says: "explain" etc.
7). Practice more.
8). Obey the general rules of the exam.

Ace the WASSCE Elective Maths Theory Section

The theory section on the WASSCE elective/further maths question paper is the part that pragmatically  tests your knowledge in solving questions. That is to say, in this section, you are required to show the detailed solutions to any question you  so choose to solve.

The theory section  normally has some set of questions which usually appear at the beginning section of the paper. These questions are usually compulsory to be answered. However, the upside is that they are usually easier to solve, in the sense that they do not require much steps  in other to arrive at a final answer. Also, there are usually less sub- questions in the compulsory question  section,  as compared to other sections that enables you to choose from a wide rage of questions.

To  ace the WASSCE elective/ further Mathematics,  you must  have an idea of the kinds of questions that  do frequently appear. For example, you should know that the most popular topics on the WASSCE theory  optional  sections are : differentiation, correlation, matrices,  vectors, mechanics, transformation, permutation and combination. You should also know that  the compulsory section on the WASSCE elective/ further Maths theory section could have  questions drawn from any topic.

So what is the catch you might ask?? The catch is that you should generally:

1).   Build your strength in all topic areas. This would help you to easily  chose which questions to answer first. Remember, answer only questions you know you are well sure of getting it correct.
2).  Watch track of your time.
3).   Don't be too anxious to answer a question you think you can answer quite correctly. Stop! Take a breath or two, and read through the question carefully, before attempting to answer circumspectly.
4).  Make sure your solutions in the answer booklet are dandy . Number your work correctly and try to avoid mistakes.
5). Avoid exam malpractice. Once you learn hard, the right solutions would come to your remembrance. Besides, once you keep off from  an exam malpractice, you would be in the  right position to question any negative occurrences with respect to your result.

Practice More WASSCE Past Questions

Practicing  more WASSCE past questions is another factor that puts you on the pathway of achieving a higher score on the WASSCE .

To Practice, is the act of rehearsing a behavior over and over, or engaging in an activity again and again, for the purpose of improving or mastering it, as in the phrase "practice makes perfect". Sports teams practice to prepare for actual games. Playing a musical instrument well takes a lot of practice.

The  specific behavior here is  taking more timed WASSCE practice tests(past questions) frequently.  Make sure you solve  at least a WASSCE past question everyday. After each timed test, mark yourself (be strict in doing this). Also try to decrease the the total time required for each test by 10 minutes.

Practicing more WASSCE past questions is a method of learning and of acquiring experience. It brings about acclimatization. Acclimatization, in the sense that you longer  reserve any fear towards the WASSCE. It's just am exam that could mainly tests you on what you've been taught in school. Practicing more could help you develop a strategy. For example:
Kofi has practiced all WASSCE  past questions on the Elective Maths from year 2000 to year 2012. He noticed that he normally gets all correlation questions correct. He then decides  that he must surely answer all correlation  questions on the main test day.

Things to Note When Practicing WASSCE Past Questions:

If practicing from a "past-question-and-answer-book." When in doubt of any question's answer, meet your teacher for confirmation.
Do  not solve the same past question over-and-over again within the same time period.  Once you've marked yourself and corrected your wrongs. You could come back later to practice that past question again. Move on to answer other past questions; cover as much as you can.
Pay cognizance to new topics or questions  that appear on any WASSCE past questions.
